Mount Bonnell limestone bluff

Mount Bonnell (Covert Park) is an uplifted limestone bluff on the Balcones Fault escarpment that exposes Cretaceous limestone and overlooks the Colorado River (Lake Austin). At roughly 775 feet above sea level it is one of the highest accessible points in Austin and has been a popular scenic overlook since the 19th century. The site features natural limestone ledges and a stone stairway used by visitors to reach the summit views.
