Golden Dragon restaurant massacre

On September 4, 1977, gunmen opened fire inside the Golden Dragon restaurant in San Francisco's Chinatown during a late-night banquet, killing five people and wounding 11 others. The attack was linked to gang violence between rival groups and drew national attention to violent crime in the city; several suspects were later arrested and prosecuted. The massacre is remembered as one of the deadliest mass shootings in San Francisco history prior to the 1990s.
