Fort Lawton archaeological resources at Discovery Park

Discovery Park contains archaeological sites documenting both Indigenous use and 20th-century military activity associated with the former Fort Lawton. Archaeological surveys and cultural resource studies undertaken during park development recorded shell midden deposits, artifact scatters, and features reflecting Coast Salish occupation prior to Euro-American settlement. Historic-period investigations documented military-era structures, utilities, and associated artifacts from Fort Lawton's use from the early 1900s through its decommissioning. These resources are included in cultural resource inventories used in park management and rehabilitation projects.
