The Exorcist house and steps

The rowhouse at 3600 Prospect Street NW in Georgetown and the adjacent steep stone staircase were used as the filming location for the climactic outdoor scene in William Friedkin's 1973 film The Exorcist. The stairs are commonly known as the 'Exorcist steps' and are a documented local landmark visited by film fans and tourists. The house remains a private residence while the public stairs have been the site of organized pilgrimages and media coverage.
