Panama Hotel

Opened in 1910, the Panama Hotel in Pioneer Square has operated as a small hotel and tea house for over a century. Its basement contains a preserved collection of belongings that belonged to Japanese American residents who were forcibly removed and interned during World War II; those items were left in storage and later recognized for their historical significance. The hotel is a longstanding element of Seattle's Japanese American history and urban fabric.
