African Meeting House (Museum of African American History)

The African Meeting House, completed in 1806 on Beacon Hill, is the oldest surviving black church building in the United States and a founding site of the Museum of African American History. It functioned as a religious, educational, and political center for Boston's African American community and hosted abolitionist meetings and community events in the 19th century. The building now contains exhibits and programs interpreting African American history in New England. It remains a preserved landmark of Black civic life in Boston.
