Lt. Benjamin Locke Store

The Lt. Benjamin Locke Store is a historic building located in Arlington, Massachusetts, built in 1816 by Lieutenant Benjamin Locke, the son of a Revolutionary War veteran. Originally established as a shop to serve travelers on the Middlesex Turnpike, it was converted into a four-family residence in 1854, a function it still serves today. Notably, the building was designated as a 'pest house' during a smallpox outbreak in 1912, although it was never used for that purpose. The store was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1985, making it a significant site for both tourists and researchers interested in early American history.
