Academy of Music - historic Philadelphia performing arts venue

The Academy of Music, opened in 1857 at the Avenue of the Arts, is the oldest continuously operating grand opera house in the United States and remains in use for performances. It has hosted opera, ballet, and orchestral concerts for generations and currently serves as a home venue for the Philadelphia Orchestra's special performances and Opera Philadelphia. The building's 19th-century architecture and interior continue to be preserved while accommodating modern productions. Local patrons and subscription audiences regularly attend events at the Academy.
