Golden Gate Bridge (1937 suspension bridge)

The Golden Gate Bridge opened to vehicular traffic on May 28, 1937, spanning the Golden Gate strait between San Francisco and Marin County. At the time of its completion it had the longest suspension bridge main span in the world, a title it held until 1964. The bridge's Art Deco towers and International Orange paint have made it an internationally recognized engineering and cultural landmark. It remains one of the busiest and most photographed bridges in the United States.
