Aubigny, North Quay

Aubigny, later known as Loretto, is a historic house located at 273 North Quay in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. Built in 1870 by Jewish businessman Samuel Davis, it originally housed Brisbane's first synagogue. The property later became a mansion owned by politician Patrick Perkins, who repurposed the synagogue as a billiards room. In 1899, it was rented to the Criminal Investigation Department, and in 1905, it was transformed into the first Mater Misericordiae Hospital. By 1913, the Sisters of Mercy renamed it Loretto, using it as a hostel for Catholic girls. The property was eventually resumed by the Brisbane City Council for road widening, leading to its sale and the establishment of the First Church of Christ, Scientist nearby.
