W. A. Criswell and First Baptist Church Dallas

W. A. Criswell served as pastor of First Baptist Church in downtown Dallas from 1944 to 1990 and became a nationally known Baptist leader and author. Criswell's sermons and leadership presided over substantial congregational growth and expanded the church's role in city religious life. The downtown First Baptist building at this address was the center of Criswell's pastoral activities for decades.
