Omar Al-Mukhtar University

Omar Al-Mukhtar University, located in Bayda, Libya, is the third largest university in the country, founded in 1961. It serves as a significant educational institution with four campuses across Bayda, Al Qubah, Derna, and Tobruk, offering a diverse range of twenty faculties. Initially focused on religious studies, the university underwent reforms after the 1969 coup, shifting towards scientific disciplines. The Agriculture Building, the oldest structure on the Bayda campus, can accommodate thousands of students. The university attracts a diverse student body from various countries, including Malta, Cyprus, Egypt, and Malaysia, and is officially recognized by Libya's Ministry of Higher Education.
