Milk House (Pavlovsk)

The Milk House, an architectural gem in Pavlovsk Park, was designed by Charles Cameron in 1782 as a romantic pavilion and cow farm. Inspired by Maria Feodorovna's homeland, it features a unique design with a straw roof, a birch tree growing through it, and a bell for calling cattle. Originally serving as a cowshed and milk storage, it evolved into a park pavilion where visitors could taste fresh milk. Despite suffering from several fires and restorations, the Milk House remains a charming attraction, reflecting the blend of functionality and elegance in 18th-century Russian architecture.
