Portlandia sculpture and the TV satire

The copper sculpture 'Portlandia' by Raymond Kaskey is mounted above the entrance of the Portland Building at this address; the sculpture was installed in 1985. The IFC sketch comedy series 'Portlandia' (2011–2018) took its title from that sculpture and satirized Portland’s culture and eccentricities. The show’s sketches amplified and codified many local jokes about Portland’s lifestyle and attitudes.
