Wangu Pavilion

Wangu Pavilion, meaning 'the pavilion of everlasting clarity', is a stunning wooden structure located on Lion Hill in the Old Town of Lijiang, Yunnan, China. Reconstructed in 1997 as part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site designation, this five-storey pavilion showcases the rich architectural heritage of the region, influenced by the Naxi minority culture and various dynastic styles. Standing on 16 impressive columns, visitors can enjoy breathtaking views of the Li Valley, Lijiang Old Town, and the majestic Jade Dragon Snow Mountain. The pavilion is adorned with 2,300 auspicious patterns representing the area's 23 ethnic groups, and features intricate dragon carvings symbolizing eternal prosperity. As a testament to its cultural significance, the traditional craftsmanship of the pavilion has been recognized on the Intangible Cultural Heritage List.
