De Rokade

De Rokade is a striking residential skyscraper located in Spijkenisse, part of the Rotterdam metropolitan area. Completed between 2008 and 2010, it reaches a height of 113 meters and features 33 floors, making it the 14th tallest building in the region. Designed by Rien de Ruiter, the building's unique black and white facade is inspired by the chess move 'castling,' which is reflected in its name. The structure houses 263 apartments, including rental units for seniors, and offers commercial spaces on the ground floor. Notably, De Rokade includes four beautifully designed event decks, featuring gardens with various themes, a large chessboard, and water features, making it a vibrant community hub. The building also emphasizes sustainability with geothermal energy and provides ample parking and amenities, making it an interesting destination for tourists and researchers alike.
