Battery Chamberlin (coast defense mortar battery)

Battery Chamberlin is a restored 12-inch coast defense mortar battery located within Cabrillo National Monument that was part of San Diego's coastal defenses in the early 20th century. The battery's concrete emplacements and associated infrastructure were constructed to protect the entrance to San Diego Bay. The restored battery and its mortars are interpreted by the National Park Service, which has offered periodic demonstrations and tours of the site.
