John F. Kennedy Memorial Plaza

Designed by architect Philip Johnson and dedicated in 1970, the John F. Kennedy Memorial Plaza is an open-roofed concrete cenotaph honoring President Kennedy. The simple, square pavilion frames a tombstone-like block and stands on a plaza that faces the site of Kennedy's assassination in Dealey Plaza. The memorial is maintained by the city and is a frequent site for commemorative events related to Kennedy.
