San Francisco Cable Car Museum

The Cable Car Museum preserves the historic cable car system's winding wheels, power house machinery, and a collection of early cable cars. The museum occupies the former Washington-Mason powerhouse and is operated by the San Francisco Municipal Railway. It offers free admission and interprets the working technology that still powers sections of the city's cable car lines.
