Batts Hall

Batts Hall is a notable building located on the South Mall of the University of Texas at Austin, Texas. Constructed between 1952 and 1953, it spans five floors and covers 39,143 square feet. Named after Robert Lynn Batts, a former law professor and Board of Regents chairman, the building is dedicated to the study and teaching of modern foreign languages. It features an auditorium where significant events, such as Harry H. Ransom's 'State of the University' speech in 1965, have taken place. Over the years, Batts Hall has served as a hub for the Departments of Germanic, Romantic, and Slavic Languages, making it a key location for language studies at the university.
