Petersen House where Abraham Lincoln died

The Petersen House, a boarding house across from Ford's Theatre, is the location where President Abraham Lincoln was taken after he was shot on April 14, 1865, and where he died on the morning of April 15, 1865. The house is preserved as part of the Ford's Theatre National Historic Site and contains period rooms and interpretive exhibits about Lincoln's final hours. The site is operated by the National Park Service in coordination with Ford's Theatre and is open to the public for tours and interpretation.
