Bowers Mansion

Bowers Mansion, located between Reno and Carson City, Nevada, is a historic mansion built in 1863 by Lemuel 'Sandy' Bowers and his wife Eilley Orrum Bowers, showcasing the opulence of the Comstock Lode mining boom. Designed in a blend of Georgian Revival and Italianate styles, the mansion reflects Eilley's Scottish heritage and was constructed with the help of Scottish stonecutters. After a period of prosperity, the mansion faced financial difficulties, leading to its foreclosure in 1876. Today, it is part of Bowers Mansion Regional Park, offering picnic areas, playgrounds, and seasonal tours of the mansion, which houses period furniture donated by local families. The park also features geothermal hot springs, enhancing its appeal as a recreational destination.
