Pacific Building (Portland, Oregon)

The Pacific Building is a historic office building located in downtown Portland, Oregon, listed on the National Register of Historic Places since 1992. Designed by architect A.E. Doyle and his firm, it showcases a blend of Chicago School and Italian Renaissance architecture. Completed in 1926, the building features a striking red tile roof and geometric windows. Notably, it was the starting point for architect Pietro Belluschi's career. The building's lobby was originally connected to Portland's first underground parking garage, although this connection was lost in 2000. Situated across from the Pioneer Courthouse, the site was once the grounds of the Henry Corbett mansion, earning the nickname 'The Million Dollar Cowpasture' due to its historical significance amidst urban development.
