Mellus Newspapers Building

The Mellus Newspapers Building, once located at 1661 Fort Street in Lincoln Park, Michigan, was a notable commercial structure recognized for its Art Deco design. Founded by William S. Mellus in 1933, it served as the headquarters for several local newspapers. Constructed in 1941 to accommodate the growing operations, the building featured a distinctive facade with white porcelain enamel panels and curved glass block entryways. Despite its historical significance, the building was demolished in 2010, and a small park is planned for the site. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2005 but was removed in 2024.
