Edifício João Brícola

The Edifício João Brícola, also known as the Mappin Building, is a historic landmark in São Paulo designed by architect Elisário Bahiana. Originally intended as the headquarters for Banco Banespa, it became famous for housing the Mappin department store. After years of vacancy, the building was sold in 2019 and is currently undergoing renovations to become the new headquarters for the Serviço Social do Comércio (SESC) and an organization museum. Set to partially reopen in late 2023, it will feature exhibitions on the history of SESC, making it an intriguing destination for tourists and researchers alike.
