Grassy Knoll at Dealey Plaza

The Grassy Knoll is a small, sloped triangular area within Dealey Plaza adjacent to Elm Street and the Texas School Book Depository. It became a focal point for witnesses and subsequent investigations after President John F. Kennedy was assassinated on November 22, 1963. The site retains a short wooden picket fence and is frequently visited by researchers and tourists; interpretations of events on the knoll are historically disputed.
