Tovrea Castle - long‑vacant desert landmark

Tovrea Castle, a reinforced‑concrete, fortress‑like building completed in 1929, stood vacant and in disrepair for decades after its original private use ended. The castle and its surrounding cactus gardens were later the focus of preservation and stabilization efforts by the City of Phoenix and private partners. Following restoration work, the site has been maintained and reopened for guided visits, but its extended period of vacancy remains a notable part of its history.
