Tovrea Castle (the 'Wedding Cake Castle')

Tovrea Castle was constructed between 1929 and 1931 by Alessio Carraro and later owned by E.A. Tovrea; the six-story concrete structure is commonly nicknamed the 'Wedding Cake Castle.' The castle and surrounding cacti gardens are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. For decades the interior was closed or available only through limited, reservation-only tours, which has made interior access and regular public viewing hard to find for many visitors.
