American Museum of Natural History

Founded in 1869, the American Museum of Natural History on Manhattan's Upper West Side houses encyclopedic collections in anthropology, paleontology, and biodiversity across multiple permanent halls. The museum's Rose Center for Earth and Space, which includes the Hayden Planetarium, opened in 2000 and presents exhibitions and public programs on astrophysics and Earth sciences. The institution is also known for its large dinosaur fossil displays, including Tyrannosaurus and long-necked sauropod specimens.
