Knights of Pythias Temple (Dallas, Texas)

The Knights of Pythias Temple, located at 2551 Elm Street in Dallas's Deep Ellum neighborhood, is a historic building designed by African-American architect William Sidney Pittman and opened in 1916. Originally serving as the social and cultural hub for the African-American community, it hosted notable figures like the Fisk Jubilee Singers and George Washington Carver. After various ownership changes and uses, it has been transformed into the Pittman Hotel, the first luxury hotel in Deep Ellum, following renovations completed in 2020. The building is recognized for its neoclassical design and significant role in Dallas's history.
