Sawyer Tavern

The Sawyer Tavern, located at 63 Arch Street in Keene, New Hampshire, is a historic building dating back to around 1803-1806. Once a vibrant tavern and inn, it served the community for much of the 19th and 20th centuries before transitioning to residential use. The structure features a classic wood-frame design with a gabled roof and retains many original interior elements. Notably, it was built by Abraham Wheeler, Jr., a Revolutionary War veteran, and later managed by his family. The tavern was a local landmark until its closure in 1883 and has been recognized on the National Register of Historic Places since 1980, making it a point of interest for both tourists and researchers exploring New Hampshire's rich history.
