Bayt al-Razzaz

Bayt al-Razzaz is a historic mansion located in the Darb al-Ahmar neighborhood of medieval Cairo, Egypt. Constructed from the late 15th century to the late 18th century, this expansive 190-room urban palace showcases exquisite Mamluk architecture, featuring decorative mashrabiya windows and intricately painted wooden interiors. Originally built by Sultan Qaytbay, the mansion has a rich history, having been home to prominent families for centuries. After falling into disrepair in the 1960s, significant restoration efforts were undertaken from 1977 to 2007, revitalizing the eastern complex. Today, it serves as a hub for local artisans and craftsmen, while plans for restoring the western section are underway.
