Lourdes SIGINT Station

The Lourdes SIGINT facility, located near Havana, Cuba, was the largest Soviet intelligence center outside Russia, operational from 1962 until its closure in 2002. Situated just 150 km from Key West, it spanned 73 km2 and employed over 1,500 intelligence personnel at its peak during the Cold War. After its closure, the site was abandoned and later transformed into the University of Information Science. The facility has been referenced in popular culture, including TV shows like Covert Affairs and NCIS: Los Angeles, and continues to intrigue researchers and tourists interested in Cold War history and espionage.
