Mission San José (the 'Queen of the Missions')

Mission San José, founded in 1720 and rebuilt in the late 18th century, is the largest and most architecturally elaborate of the San Antonio missions and is commonly nicknamed the 'Queen of the Missions.' It features a prominent rose window and extensive church and convento ruins that have been subjects of historic preservation and restoration. Mission San José is part of the San Antonio Missions National Historical Park and the San Antonio Missions UNESCO World Heritage Site.
