Old South Meeting House - mass meetings before the Revolution

The Old South Meeting House was the site of the large meeting on December 16, 1773 that organized the Boston Tea Party, an act of protest that escalated tensions leading to armed conflict between colonists and British forces. The building served as a central gathering place for debates and planning by colonial leaders in the years immediately preceding the Revolutionary War. Today the meeting house is a museum interpreting its role in the political mobilization that preceded the opening battles of the Revolution.
