Balclutha (1886) - Preserved Square-Rigged Ship at Hyde Street Pier

The Balclutha is an iron-hulled, full-rigged sailing ship built in 1886 and preserved at Hyde Street Pier as part of the San Francisco Maritime National Historical Park. The vessel made long-distance commercial voyages in the late 19th and early 20th centuries and is one of the relatively few large square-rigged ships of that era surviving today. The ship is maintained as a museum vessel with public access and interpretive displays about maritime commerce and sailing technology.
