Edificio La Nacional

Edificio La Nacional is a striking Art Deco office building located in the heart of Mexico City, directly across from the iconic Palacio de Bellas Artes. Designed by architect Manuel Ortiz Monasterio, it was constructed between 1929 and 1932 and was the first building in Mexico to exceed ten stories, standing at 56 meters with 13 floors. Originally home to the National Insurance Company, it held the title of the tallest building in the city until 1937. The structure is notable for its resilience, having survived significant earthquakes in 1957, 1985, and 2012. Visitors can enjoy a café on the eighth floor that offers stunning views of the nearby Palacio de Bellas Artes and Alameda Park. Adjacent to it is La Nacional II, built in 1949, which houses a Sears store.
