Assassination of Malcolm X at the Audubon Ballroom

On February 21, 1965, Malcolm X was shot and fatally wounded while preparing to speak at the Audubon Ballroom, where he had been scheduled to address members of the Organization of Afro-American Unity. He was pronounced dead after being transported to Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center. Three men were convicted in connection with the killing, and later reviews and debates about the investigation and convictions have continued.
