Gay Farm

Gay Farm is a historic colonial house in Petersham, Massachusetts, built in 1740 by William Negus, making it the oldest surviving building in the area. The property remained in the Negus family until 1819 and was later owned by Thomas Stevens Howe, a descendant of Negus, until 1893. The house is named after Elizabeth Howe and her husband Charles M. Gay, who lived there for many years. After their passing, it was inherited by their relative Lewis H. Babbitt. Gay Farm was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1977, making it a significant site for visitors interested in colonial history and architecture.
