Boston Public Library elevated interiors

The McKim Building of the Boston Public Library (BPL) contains Bates Hall, a historic reading room whose high arched windows provide a quiet, elevated view of Copley Square and Trinity Church. The BPL's upper balconies and enclosed courtyard offer less-frequented vantage points inside the library building, used historically by scholars for study and observation. The library's architecture and window placements were intentionally designed to frame the surrounding Copley Square streetscape.
