Studio 54

Studio 54 opened in April 1977 at 254 West 54th Street and quickly became emblematic of disco-era nightlife and celebrity culture in Manhattan. Founded by Steve Rubell and Ian Schrager, the club was famous for its exclusive door policy, theatrical parties, and performances by major entertainers. After legal and financial issues led to its closure as Studio 54 in 1980, the building continued to be used for theater and other entertainment purposes under different operators.
