Gas Works Park-former coal gasification plant turned park

Gas Works Park occupies the former Seattle Gas Light Company coal gasification plant site and preserves much of the plant's industrial structures as landscape features. Landscape architect Richard Haag transformed the site into a public park that opened in 1975, making the industrial remnants a distinctive part of Seattle's urban folklore. The park is a long-standing local gathering place for picnics, kite-flying, and is the traditional finish area for Fremont's Solstice Parade.
