Puhl House

The Puhl House, also known as the Bacon House, is a historic log structure located in Palmer, Alaska, built in 1935 by settlers Joe and Blanche Puhl. This unique single-story house, measuring 35 by 25 feet, is notable for its construction by the Puhls themselves rather than by the Works Progress Administration, which built most colony houses. The house features round logs with saddle notches and oakum chinking, showcasing the craftsmanship of early Alaskan settlers. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1991, making it a significant site for tourists and researchers interested in Alaskan history and architecture.
