Boston Athenaeum

The Boston Athenaeum, founded in 1807, is one of the nation's oldest independent libraries and cultural institutions. Located at 10½ Beacon Street, it houses circulating and research collections, rare books, manuscripts, and an art collection used by scholars and the public. The Athenaeum mounts exhibitions and public programs that have contributed to Boston's long literary and intellectual traditions.
