Japanese Tea Garden - WPA-era landscape installation

The Japanese Tea Garden in Brackenridge Park was built on the site of a former limestone quarry and developed as a stone-structured garden beginning in the 1920s; Works Progress Administration crews made significant improvements during the 1930s. The garden's constructed stone terraces, pavilion, and koi pond are permanent landscape installations that remain open to visitors. The site is a documented example of adaptive reuse of a quarry into a public garden feature.
