Petersen House - site where Abraham Lincoln died

After being shot by John Wilkes Booth at Ford's Theatre on April 14, 1865, President Abraham Lincoln was carried to the Petersen House across the street. He was treated there and died in a bedroom at the house the morning of April 15, 1865. The Petersen House is preserved as part of the Ford's Theatre National Historic Site with exhibits documenting Lincoln's final hours.
