Point Au View

Point Au View is a historic Italian villa-style house located in Mason County, Kentucky, built in the 1850s for Judge Emory C. Whitaker, a notable lawyer and politician. The house features 13-inch-thick walls made from bricks crafted on-site and was completed in 1860, partly due to the urgency of the Civil War. The Whitaker family lived there until around 1900, after which it changed hands several times, including a period as a horse farm. The property faced neglect until its restoration in 1946, which preserved its historical charm while modernizing certain aspects. Today, visitors can appreciate its architectural significance and the remnants of its equestrian past.
