Cathedral of the Holy Cross

The Cathedral of the Holy Cross is the seat of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Boston and the largest Catholic church in New England. Located in the South End, the cathedral was completed and dedicated in 1875 and contains the archbishop's cathedra (bishop's seat). It hosts major archdiocesan liturgies, ordinations, and Holy Week services that draw pilgrims from across the region. The building is noted for its Gothic Revival architecture and prominent role in Boston Catholic life.
