Saltair (Utah)

Saltair, located on the southern shore of the Great Salt Lake in Utah, is a historic resort complex known for its stunning Moorish Revival architecture and rich history as a popular family destination. Established in 1893, the original Saltair was designed to rival Coney Island and became a thriving amusement park until it was destroyed by fire in 1925. A second pavilion attempted to revive the resort's glory but struggled due to changing entertainment trends and economic challenges, ultimately closing in 1958. A third Saltair was built in 1981, repurposed from an aircraft hangar, but faced ongoing issues with fluctuating lake levels and competition from larger venues. Today, remnants of the original structures and pilings can still be seen, offering a glimpse into the past of this once-thriving resort area.
