Hjelmsgate 3

Hjelmsgate 3 is a historic self-managed social centre located in Oslo, Norway, originally built in 1858. It has played a significant role in the Norwegian counterculture since the late 1960s, serving as a vibrant meeting place for various communities, including anarchists and LGBTQ+ individuals. The centre houses a vegetarian café, a bicycle workshop, and a radical bookshop, and has been the publishing site for the anarchist magazine Gateavisa since 1970. Despite suffering severe fire damage in 2014, Hjelmsgate 3 continues to be a hub for alternative culture and activism in the city.
